Straid Clachan in the Townland of Straid

This clachan is number 26 on the location map.
This clachan is situated on one side of the main Cushendun-Cushendall road. The residences that remain have been rebuilt and are not immediately distinguishable from the modern houses along this road, with the exception of a well preserved whitewashed barn, the former premises of John Whiteford, a tailor. More historic out-buildings are visible from the yards of these houses and help to suggest the shape of the original clachan.

If you find the Griffith's Valuation difficult to understand then you should read this. Unfortunately, the Griffith's maps are not always easy to read.
