General View of the
Clachan
The photograph above shows the back of the clachan
looking towards Cushendun. In the photograph the houses in the
clachan lie between the two modern two-storey houses shown on
the right and left of the photograph. The land in
front of the clachan is low and flat, being part of the
flood plain of the river Glendun. Behind the houses in the
clachan the land runs up to much
higher and rougher ground where the mountain land is still
held in common. Today the clachan contains six
houses which have been extensively rebuilt,
some on new sites. It forms part of a thriving community which
includes more new houses built on the fringes of the
clachan.
The photographs below show the buildings which
make up the clachan area today.
