Does anybody know of a McHenry/MacHenry family with connections to the Glenarm area?
My gt grandfather John McHenry (an estate gardener) said he was born in Glenarm in 1843. His mother Sarah (maiden name n/k) b1805 and sisters, Isabella b1835 and Margaret b1845, also said they were born there. There were at least two other children Mary Ann b1832 and William b1842. My gt gt grandfather was John McHenry (labourer) b1801 – Ireland but not sure where.
The family moved to Liverpool and Birkenhead area in the 1850/60s. But they are not on UK1851/61 Census or 1851 Glenarm census, though a John McHenry Snr and Jnr are at Munie North, in Glenarm, on 1861 Griffiths’ Valuation leasing land etc from the Earl of Antrim.
I have found Margaret McHenry’s 1845 birth/baptism in the church register of St Patrick’s COI Glenarm but no other family members.
Grateful for any information that might provide me with a Glenarm link to other McHenry families in the Antrim area.
