Dr. Crawford Blair of Larne

Can anyone tell me anything about Dr. Crawford Blair of Larne, son of John Crawford Blair?  He married Florence Kathleen Rusk at Ballylinney Church on Dec. 22, 1928.  He died in May 1965, and Florence died in 1960.  Both are buried at the church.  Am looking for living descendants who might possess further information on the Blair family that remained in Ireland after others in this line immigrated to Canada, Australia, and the States.

Thanks

Hi my name is John Batch, I was born in Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.  I am the son of John Batch born June 1928 - died November 2004.  I have two brothers and I have four daughters and one grandson.  We found your post on this forum after searching the 1911 Census for Ireland.

My father was adopted but we were led to believe that he was the son of a Dorothea Isabella Wiles and a Dr Blair of Larne.  When my father died my mother found a newspaper clipping in his pocket relating to the death of a Dr Crawford Blair of Larne, who died in Portrush.  He was married to the sister of Walter Rusk (racing driver).  He had a son, John, an officer in the Canadian Air Force and two married daughters.

I would be interested to hear from you if you can shed any light on this information.  My email address is [email protected]

Regards

John Batch

Hi John,
Your note is very interesting and I am not sure if I can help, but it would be nice to get a copy of that newspaper article.  First, I am not sure how your dad would fit into this picture because of his birth date (Crawford and Florence were married in December 1928) but the Crawford name got passed down so much it is possible that it might connected somewhere.  How sure are you of his date of birth?  I don't of the Dorothea Isabella Wiles name so I can't help too much on that either.  But, what I can tell you since you mention Walter Rusk is that after doing a bit of research on him is that he was from Belfast and my Florence Kathleen Rusk's residence at marriage was 188 Antrim Road in Belfast and her father was Walter P. Rusk.  If this is a coincidence I would be very surprised.  I am assuming that the article listed the son, John, and the two married daughters - also assuming that they were not mentioned by name.  At least this tells me the family possibly migrated to Canada and for that I thank you for your assistance.  Can you send me a copy of that article, or even the information surrounding its source (i.e. paper, date, etc.)?  That would be a great help and maybe we can go from there.
Thanks,
John

p.s. also replying via your email address listed.

Hi John Batch,

I've tried to reconnect with you via your email address.  Since this last message I have personally met our cousin, Kathy McClure, in France and we spoke of your connection.  Are you still interested in the family?  Have you found or do you know about any information on your grandmother, Dorothea?
