I have been reading avidly (and I must confess with some difficulty) George Hill's ''History ...'' and trying to absorb the fascinating (and addictive) story of the Glens. I note also that I think it was the 7th Earl in the 1700s was the first to be brought up as a non-Catholic, apparently because his father died when he was small child. And yet, recently, I am certain, I read the present Earl's family are RC. Could anyone shed light on this please ...

| You are correct, the present family are Roman Catholic. The present Earl's Grandmother was Lady Sykes(from England), who was a Roman Catholic, and married to the Earl at the time. She was also an avid sculptor, and crafted the statue situated at the front of Seaview primary school. |

Thank you very much, JJ, I had just logged on, checking on another topic, and was delighted to see your response. It confirms my recollection of reading of the Antrim family re-conversion but being unable to recall exactly where. |
