McErlean and McKenty

I have found information on the Jane McKenty side, but very little on the McErlean side of the union.  Does anyone have information on John or Robert McErlean?

Blackandtan,

Hey.  We are most likely tcousins.  John McErlean is one of my greats.  What you want to do is search the site with "headless cross", and read the fine article by another cousin of yours.  At the comment at the end of the article you will find the email address of another cousin of yours, Mick Spears, in Australia.  He has much info on the McKentys.  I have stuff on the McErlean's if you don't have it.  Also you have a Mulvenna cousin in Scotland who has an amazing website.

Good luck.

Hi derx, I have Mulvenna forebears from the Glens. I would be interested in knowing the website address you refer to. There might be connections with my Mulvennas.

Innisfayle,

Gerry Mulvenna, who is most likely a cousin of yours, actually has a website:www.mulvenna.org.
He has somewhere on that site an extensive genealogy list - a goldmine.  I have pics, deeds, wills, etc of my McQuillan connections.  Gerry Mulvenna and I are fourth cousins.  Mick Spears, in Au.  and his wife have written a 400 or so page book on relatives from Antrim and elsewhere.  My double second cousin, Pat, at windseye@aol.com is more organized than I, and can help you out.  Also Felix McKillop knows all.  I have been trying to get copies of his books.  He has his own website.  Antrim is a cool place to get info.  I have gotten very little from Mayo.  I did get my grandfather's birth certificate sent last week, as I am applying for Irish citizenship.  I hope you can get a pic of Elizabeth McErlean's mother.  It is a riot!  I believe Mick Spears is from Robert McErlean line.

Hi Derx -

Are your McQuillan connections from the Glenravel area, if so I would be interested in sharing information.   In fact if you know anyone with Glenravel information, I would like to work with them.

My McQ's are from Glenarm, Cruck Clachan.  There is some information of them on this site.

Derx, I would love some info.  Robert McErlean was married to jane McKenty, I believe Robert's Father was John, but that's as far as I got.  If you have John's wife and parents, it would big a big help.  Thanks cuz.

Black and Tan,

My maternal grandmother's name was Elizabeth McErlean.  I am almost certain that your Robert and Elizabeth were siblings.  Their parents were John McErlean b. 1839 and Mary Gibson b. 1843.  Mary Gibson's parents were Charles Gibson and Mary McKay.  I believe all of these folk were PWM's (people with money).

If you go to mulvenna.org you will find Jerry Mulvenna's genealogy work.  All of the above are mentioned, with doc.s of pictures, wills, obituaries, etc.

If you search "headless cross" on the present GofAHS site, Mary Gibson is mentioned under the heading 'old chapel'.

I had thought I was addressing you in my reply to Inisfraye.
