Hamiltons of Ardclinis

Hoping somebody can offer advice on searching for pre-famine records in the parish of Ardclinis.

My ancestors John Hamilton (born ca. 1800) and Rose McCarney/McKerry (born 1804) emigrated with their eight children (born 1830-1844) from Ardclinis to Ontario, Canada in 1847.  They were Catholic.  In Canada, John was a farmer and hotel keeper.

We have no records from Ireland. I understand Ardclinis corresponds to the R.C. parish of Layde and that PRONI has microfilms of R.C. baptismal records from 1838-1844.

I'm in Canada so not able to take advantage of the PRONI resources, and have not had much luck with the Ulster Historical Foundation indices.

Wondering if anyone can suggest any other resources I can take advantage of from afar?

Was John Hamilton from Longfield/Ballymunter?

Thanks Blackandtan for the reply.  I don't know anything about their origins other than the parish of Ardclinis.

This bit is from their daughter Jane's marriage in 1855.  She is described as:
"daughter of John Hamilton and Rose McKenny of the Parish of Ardclinis Co Antrim"

I'm not familiar with Longfield or Ballymunter.  However the only reference to Longfield I can find in Antrim is a townland named Longfield in the parish of Tickmacrevan.  Not sure how close all these places are.

Would you happen to have any leads on Catholic Hamiltons in the area?

I looked for him in "townlands, people and traditions" by Felix McKillop.
There's a short line about him saying "in 1820 John Hamilton and partners were landholders in Ballymunter" I don't see him again.
Many parts of my tree are in that book, one is the McKenty's(I have 3 Rose McKenty's (McKenny may be McKenty)but not a match)
You can try a website the antrim mckentys, look for a hamilton in-law. (worth a shot)
